Love this so much! I donated some money to the cause!

I am going to spend some time making some default map layouts (to give myself some starting points). If you would like the save files when I am done so you can incorporate them into your program I will send them your way!

first off, this is a super program! a small recommendation, though, is allowing buildings to show up on the mini map and putting the airport/airport entrance somewhere on the beach

good job and good luck!!

This is amazing! Thank you for the last update. Can't wait to see trees  coming! Hope bushes are also a part of your previsions.

I presume the idea has already been shared, but I imagined that it would be great if it exists a kind of view-mode tool that track the view from the airplane when someone is coming to your island. So in this way, we can plan beautiful concepts to be seen from the sky!

Thank you again and good luck for the future.

this is seriously amazing! i was doing everything in photoshop but this is so much better!

could be really cool to have an option to clear map based on selection, like dragging the mouse over an area and a selection mask appears and you can choose to just clear it instantly... kinda annoying to have to go in by hand to remove everything... idk

also an undo button would be neat!

Is there a way to open an island designed on the web client on the Windows IslandPlanner? Created most of my island on web before realizing the Windows version runs much better for me.
Thanks for any help.

(+3)

looking into this!! web version is being saved into the web browsers local storage at /idbfs/islandplanner/saves/islandmanager.island, and the desktop version gets saved somewhere in appdata (at least on windows, not sure where on mac/linux but it will tell you the exact path when you try saving/loading) so taking the save from one and putting it in the other should work in concept but i have no idea how to get it out of the browsers localstorage (i even tried downloading a few extensions to do it but cant seem to figure out how...)

(+1)

if you can make an import feature to import the islandmanager.island I think that might be an easy way to solve it (after using the export you built to get it out)

(+3)

ok if you load it here and then go to save you should be able to export your save now!!

Perfect thank you so much!

does anyone have an idea of how many squares wide rivers normally are?

(1 edit) (+1)

The ones on my island are between 3 and 4 wide

So cool!! A few frustrations were the whole big canvas thing and not knowing where you were in relation and also it would be great if you could pre-load the map options from the game. That would be a total game changer! Thank you so much for doing this!

For the noobs who are just getting started. :)

(+3)

Great!! So far my main frustration is a lack of a brush size, and also the fact that I assumed that this was a big endless grass canvas and started working from an arbitrary point... Only to realize later this was already an island and I had built on like, this random arbitrary corner.  I realized later that the grid marks out acres which I could use to sorta measure out where my airport is on my real island and build from there, but a minimap or something would help greatly. I'd also love to be able to copy-paste stuff.

Woah, this is awesome! Lots of potential here

This is better than a 2d map to plan out things, I love how I don't have to waste time in game to terraform and get frustrated, this is a good time saver/editor. The only frustration I have with this is that I cannot zoom out to see more of the map, it makes it harder to plan an island without seeing the big picture that you add to with the little details. Thing that I would love to see added are a 2d map and a copy/paste drag and drop type of editing so I can pick up landscaping and design to put it somewhere else on the island, but for being in such an early stage, it's already better than any island editor in my opinion.

Wish to download the save file from the web.

I woke up today, and i was like it'll be great if there is any Island planner app for Animal Crossing New Horizon. Then i found this!!! i shared it to a lot of my friends. Great app and thank you so much.

But one thing i'd like to add is a further zoom out and maybe move around by dragging the mouse cursor?

Are you running Catalina?

If so, try running this command (update the app's location on your system accordingly):

chmod +x /Applications/IslandPlannerMac.app/Contents/MacOS/*

how do i do that?!

Open the terminal app and type that command in.

This assumes the app is installed in the main Applications folder, you might have to customize it based on where the app is installed on your system.  If you're unsure of the proper path, right-click on the app and when the menu opens, hold down the option key and you should see a menu item appear named 'Copy "IslandPlannerMac.app" as Pathname". Paste that into the terminal window and append '/Contents/MacOS/*' to the path.

Thank you. I installed the itch app and downloaded it through that and it worked. :)

One thing that I think will be really helpful when planning is have item size blocks (building all items prob takes too long.) so we can reserve certain places for certain things when planning! (maybe the ability to name them as well).

I hope you can make it mobile-compatible! I really want to try this out, but my computer is broken and, well, you know why I can’t get it fixed yet.

(+2)(-1)

cool project! any chance you'll post the source code on github so others can contribute?

(+3)

Definitely one of the better things I stumbled upon. Great app dude!

(+4)

This is SO great and exactly what I have been wanting. The only thing  I really wish it could do would be to zoom out more and be able to see the whole island while editing. This is why planning in the game is hard for me cause I need to be able to see more of the island! Great job!

(+2)

the easiest way i got it to work on mac is to download itch.io and then download the planner through that application! just means you don't have to mess around with your security settings

thx! it work now~

Thanks!!!!!!!

(+1)

Fantastic stuff, please consider adding shrub/tree standins the way there are some for buildings.

(+3)

Really good tool.  My primary request is to be able to zoom out so that the entire island can be visible at once.   Similar to minimap, but I need it to be full screen.  Keep up the great work, and thanks! :)

Knowing this is in the works still is great! The overall structure of the game idea is awesome!

when i maximize the window, i cant put it back to windowed mode. is there a shortcut to do this without closing the program and restarting it?

(+2)

For now seems like a very good project 😍 can't wait to see it completed I hope the 2$ will help you to succeed. Greetings from Spain: Prisma Lux

Is there a way to see the entire map at once ?

No, but they mentioned that a minimap is in the works for a future update.

FOR MAC USERS WITH THE "APPLICATION CAN'T BE OPENED ERROR" I'm not a developer by any means but I got the same error and this is how I fixed it:

- If you unarchived the zip file with the default Archive Utility MacOs app, you will most likely get this error. I don't know exactly why, but a quick google search for the error found that you might get this error due to the way the app decompresses (?) the app file.

- Decompress the app using another unarchiver app. I used The Unarchiver and got the app to work. Currently using it now on MacOs Catalina.

Hopefully this helps someone!

(1 edit)

I tried the Unarchiver, but it said it cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified. macOS cannot verify that this app is free from malware. The Unarchiver created this file on an unknown date.

The only 2 options I have is to "move to trash" or "cancel".

Can you open the app?  Thanks

You can try going into your security settings and toggle the "open anyway" option, or something similar to that. AFAIK Catalina automatically stops unsigned apps from opening but gives the option to open anyway through the Settings app.

The developer cannot be verified is usually a settings issue. By default macs now only like to run apps they know of. Go here and type.in the terminal command listed to disable this feature. I've been supporting Macs in a professional environment for 17 years. This will. Ot hurt your machine. There used to be radial button options to allow from Any, but Apple got rid of that as a default option. This will allow you to install any app without question.

Something else I know about itchio apps on Mac is that they tend to prefer being run from the itchio app. Which is kinda like Steam client but for itchio. Get it and run the app through it on it mac and you should be all good.

See my comment above; for Catalina, the only thing that worked for me was to chmod the executable.

Please add pier/beach/airports

This is useful for me since I like planning these types of things far ahead to get around working extraneously. Supported a bit. Hope you keep working on it, but overall thank you~

The player house is actually 5x3. In this application it is sized at 5x4. Amazing app though, it's definitely helpful

Deleted 4 years ago

No, it's still 5x3 for the most part, you just can't place anything on the steps. but you can place things aside of the steps. the model is still one row larger than it should be in the program.

If you include the steps, then yes its 5x4. But if you include the steps in the program, it's 5x5.

(+1)

Ide like to weigh in on something, this is both accurate an inaccurate, i cant see what is going wrong here but the house model is off.
Linked is a in game and in designer screenshot and things dont line up where they should / look very out. I do think the house model is to blame but I am willing to be proven wrong

(+2)

Your house model is wrong, I did the ACNH science and by that i mean i drew a grid and your house model is too big https://imgur.com/a/T4oPN6d
I can walk behind my house so there must be a layer behind but then the house in the app is one too far foward
Do not use the front as reference as i miss placed the land, please go from back of the house towards the camera

Does anyone know where the pier starts?

I'm on mac and my " right mouse button" is control plus the keypad. It works to remove water but once I've placed a cliff, it can't be removed :(

(1 edit)

click with 2 fingers

You are a godsend

Been using it on the browser but bought it anyway because I'm so thankful for this intuitive too! Can't wait to see how it grows!

This is mindblowing, I never thought this kind of planner is possible! Donated! Keep up the great work! :)

Love it so far! Waiting for a minimap so I can plan my island better.

I donated and downloaded, but I'm not able to install it on my mac :( it says the app can't be installed, even after going to the Security settings it doesn't show up.

(1 edit)

this should be fixed now, thank you!!

thank you so much I will try it!

Tailors is 5x3. In planner right now the building is 5x2.

https://www.reddit.com/r/AnimalCrossing/comments/gb3nj1/i_updated_the_visualization_of_the_buildings/

(1 edit)

the building itself takes up 5x2 (measured it in-game) so the tailor is the correct size in the planner
